Continuing to push the boundaries – and also moving away from standard player video/picture reveals – the club found a new creative avenue for the 2014/15 kit launch.
Ron Vlaar was at the forefront of the superhero comic book campaign.
The club produced a tease video, which had the captain in full Clark Kent mode, complete in suit/tie, ready to unveil the home shirt to the world.

Vlaar then revealed the new home kit in an official video, which featured – like the tease – across all main channels.
The creative was drawn up by Birmingham-based illustrator Steve Baker, who has also worked with Marvel, Virgin, Disney and Nokia.
They were also made into special comic book cards, which could be purchased from the Villa Store – and proved popular with adults and children alike.
They featured Gabby Agbonlahor, Fabian Delph, Brad Guzan and Christian Benteke – alongside Dutch defender Vlaar.
It was once again produced in association with Macron, the club’s official club kit partner, and saw the first-ever Kit Launch Festival, with a host of up-and-coming Midland bands taking centre stage at Villa Park over the Father’s Day Weekend.
