I had a fast response to a question posed on social media.
“What’s the best life hack you know?” it asked.
My reply: “Be a good person”.
For me, a simple question deserves a simple answer.

One of the buzz topics of the modern era is personal branding. But, in reality, it’s not a new concept. It’s always been around. It’s just been called reputation.
The best way to enhance it is by acting with integrity and honesty.
I believe strongly that your head should hit the pillow every night knowing you’ve tried to do the right thing in every area of your life.
In work, it ensures a positive reputation, something everyone should strive for.
I remember some years ago, I asked for a meeting with a top executive at a famous brand.
I didn’t think I’d get it. But I did.
Interestingly, they told me the only reason they’d agreed to see me was because they’d rung around and been told I was a good guy. They said my reputation had got me through the door.
As you can see, your reputation is vital – and it’s something to nurture through principled behaviour.
How?
- Do what you say you’ll do
- Help others
- Act with integrity
- Lead by example
- Don’t gossip
Or put simply, as I did, be a good person.
